The public outreach component of the education program includes participation in festivals and international events such as Earth Day and Beach/River Sweep, and open houses of Reserve and Baruch facilities featuring current research and programs. Local festivals include the annual Winyah Bay Heritage Festival and Huntington Beach State Park’s Wildlife and History Day.

The education program also partners with local organizations such as Keep Georgetown Beautiful and Service Over Self to promote the reserve’s mission in our local community. The education program is a core education provider in the Coastal Waccamaw Stormwater Education Consortium, which coordinates education and outreach activities related to stormwater and water quality in Horry and Georgetown Counties.

For information on having a booth or display set up at your next event, or getting involved in other outreach efforts, contact the Education Coordinator.
