Adopt-a-Stream Volunteer Training
South Carolina Adopt-a-Stream is a volunteer citizen science program for the protection of South Carolina’s waterways! Volunteers are trained to monitor water quality and share this information with their communities. You don’t need to be an environmentalist, angler, or scholar to join this effort.
SC Adopt-a-Stream volunteers make a positive impact by monitoring their adopted site monthly. Volunteers learn how to collect data that can be shared with their local community, used for restoration projects and referenced for educational purposes.
No scientific background or experience is necessary–all are welcome to learn how to collect data that can help protect and restore freshwater streams through the SC Adopt-a-Stream program! This FREE training will provide classroom and field instruction for volunteer monitors on how to: select a monitoring site, collect samples, test water quality, enter data, determine stream conditions, and practice safety in the field.
