Beach Vitex Strike Force Volunteer Training
Beach Vitex is an invasive deciduous woody vine-like plant introduced to the southeastern US in the mid-1980’s. Although introduced to protect dunes, it instead crowds out native dune vegetation, causes erosion, and harms sea turtle nests. Volunteers are being trained to safely use an herbicide to treat and monitor areas of beach vitex. This field workshop will cover identification, reporting, and herbicide application method and safety.
