Citizen Science Saturday: FrogWatch USA Training

FrogWatch USA is a citizen science program to provide individuals, groups and families with opportunities to learn about wetlands in their communities by reporting on the calls of local frogs and toads. The information collected by thousands of FrogWatch USA volunteers across the United States is then analyzed to inform the development of environmental protection and amphibian conservation strategies.

The Winyah Wetlands chapter of FogWatch USA was created to connect community members to their neighborhood habitats that may be providing essential functions for promoting biodiversity and protecting water quality. Volunteers select a wetland site to collect monitoring data individually or as part of a group during peak frog and toad breeding season (February through August). Volunteers conduct monitoring visits in the evening, at least 30 minutes after sunset, at least once a month during the season.
