Stewardship Stroll- Evening at the Marsh Trail
Wind down with a late afternoon hike through the saltmarsh at North Inlet-Winyah Bay NERR while the sun sets over the Spartina. Â As we walk the newly established Marsh Trail, approximately 0.5 miles long, we will pass through high marsh and maritime forest habitats. The marsh is home to various bird species such as herons, egrets, and ospreys, which can often be seen hunting or resting along the water’s edge. Additionally, you may spot other wildlife including crabs, fish, and small mammals that thrive in this unique ecosystem. As we hike, we will discuss current conservation topics and how we can all be stewards of our coastal habitats. The trail’s terrain can be muddy and wet in places, so sturdy hiking shoes or boots are recommended to ensure comfort and safety. We will meet at the Hobcaw Barony Discovery Center and travel by van to the trailhead. Â Participants must be 18 or older to ride in the van.
