CTP training topics vary widely, from low impact development to coastal habitat management, but all relate to responsible and sustainable coastal living and growth.
The Coastal Training Program was created to serve local audiences and local needs. In 2006-2007, the North Inlet-Winyah Bay and ACE Basin CTP conducted a formal survey of decision makers, the results of which were published as a report: Training Needs Assessment of Professional Decision Makers in the Coastal Counties of South Carolina. Training is based on local case studies whenever possible. An Updated Needs Assessment Survey was completed in 2021.
Programs can be as detailed or general as desired (from engineering and design specs of pervious concrete, to general overviews of low impact development). Programs duration can last anywhere from one hour, to full- or multi-day, and tailored for large or small groups as needed.
CTP also offers technical assistance by serving on local committees and advisory boards, assisting with comprehensive plan rewrites, providing input on ordinances, grant-writing, and a variety of other activities. This program aims to be a resource for information and a liaison to local experts and agencies.
